How can there be a set path for your life if no one other human on this planet is the same?
No one other person has the same experiences, thoughts, desires, passions, traumas, up-bringing, morals, parents, mentors, friends as another. It is very clearly and statistically impossible for it to be so.
So how the hell can we expect GROUPS of people to function the same way? All men to function this same way. All women to act this same way. All parents to raise, all children this same way. All learners to learn this same way. Retirement, 401k accounts by this same age. All high school graduates go to college to earn a degree to get a job to contribute to “society” to pay taxes, and to obey the same rule of law as the rest of the “all.”
Except that it was all created by a “few”, to protect the “few” companies that employ the “all” of society, to again, make the “few” wealthier. I am a supporter of acquiring wealth. In fact, I believe it is the obligation of the majority to acquire wealth rather than take what we can get as the very few hold all of it.
So, my proposition is this – do not follow the advice or arbitrary path that doesn’t apply to you, because you are a unique person. The people have changed, yet the recipe remains the same. Change that!
Do not feel bad for “being behind” because who are you behind? It is an absolutely poor comparison. Unless you meet your clone, you cannot compare yourself to anyone else. The only comparisons I have to work with are the following:
- I am human, male
- I live in the “United” States, in one state
- My occupation; skills
Apart from that, my avatar offers no nuance and therefore no “control variables” exist to compare against.
The experiment is invalid. Period.
Sadly, the US government is comparing you, your incompetent LinkedIn connections are comparing you, and maybe even your mom is comparing you. It’s what people do in fear, to feel better about themselves, or to isolate and marginalize groups.
This is Resistance that Steven Pressfield and every creative or enlightened person talks about. It is a force to fight in order to keep your spirit and the Spirit of the World alive.
