(Uncensored) Advice is toxic.

Society, friends, well-meaning, people, friends, family, influencers – give advice, intentionally or unintentionally for ambitious people, particularly entrepreneurs that basically tell us to go through these extra hoops. For example, People say you need a mentor to start a business or you need funding or whatever it is. And as someone who hasn’t done this before, sees it as one more thing to do even though I might not be applicable. No one ever stops and say to inexperienced entrepreneurs to just try it and fail or succeed. Instead, it’s do this thing you aren’t doing.

Another major issue is with how uncensored advice from what seems every perspective is actually counterintuitive. We are all humans with different human experiences of the similar life events and experiences and our advice therefore differs. In the entrepreneur space especially, advice is so available, especially in social media formats where every kind of person has an opinion and SOP surrounding the art of business creation. Their advice is similar to the illustration below, where it pulls in all directions.

When you’re pulled in every direction, there is no Net Force or a pull in any one direction. This as I taught in physics, results in no acceleration and no meaningful motion.

A black circle with many arrows pointing out from it in all directions. It is my visual metaphor for seeking or taking advice from other people. We are all different and therefore provide different advice. Taking it all in will leave you static. How then do we ever pursue or use advice? I say we focus on what’s aligned with your mission objective. Then JUST DO IT.
